It’s been 259 days since my last blog entry, so let’s catch up.
On the other hand….never mind. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room…Lynn and I are back in Lake Havasu City, Arizona at the 2022 Xscapers Bash. For those keeping score at home, it was at this event and in this town that two years ago I spent my first night ever in a hospital. That first night was also my last night as septic shock almost got the best of me. An old blog entry named “Trippin In The Desert” chronicles my ordeal, so check it out if you’d like to hear what that was about.
I have long wondered what it would be like to come back to the same town / same event / same rodeo grounds. I’ve experienced a wild array of emotions leading up to this event and lying awake much of last night reminded me that I’m still not over it. So, the plan for now is that I’m going to try and make some blog entries over the course of this event in the hopes of re-kindling my passion for writing. These last 2 years have been both exciting and humbling and I’m still trying to figure out the “new me”. Between selling most of our possessions, leaving friends in Charleston, exiting the work force, moving into a motorhome, feeling helpless to render help to a dear friend, discovering and working through deeply-suppressed childhood trauma and losing both my father and father-in-law within five weeks of each other, the past three years have been, shall I say, a motherfucker.
I still have plenty to say and share, but I have not felt myself…whatever myself actually is. Finding joy in experiences has been elusive and I have not felt in command of words to post anything. A few people have recently encouraged me to start writing again and I too, really want to. So, today’s post isn’t much, but it is a start.
Hopefully this week isn’t a super-spreader event. However, if it is, I do know a perfectly sub-par hospital nearby.
